Our mission is to provide a safe and supportive place where men can focus on sobriety, rebuild their lives, and work toward long-term recovery.

Our Home

Brave Heart offers comfortable, welcoming spaces designed to support recovery and community living. We offer single and shared rooms, all within a home that is handicap accessible for ease and safety. A large industrial kitchen makes it easy to prepare meals together, while spacious recreational areas provide room to relax, connect, and build lasting peer support.

Living at Brave Heart

Settle into a safe, supportive home that’s ready on day one. Every bedroom is fully furnished, and all utilities are included—Wi-Fi too—so you can focus on recovery, not setup costs.

Eligibility

You may apply to live at Wapello Men’s Oxford House if you have:

Completed an inpatient treatment program, or
Completed detox with extensive outpatient treatment, or
Established a period of sobriety and demonstrate the desire to stay clean..

How it works:

Applicants are interviewed by current residents.
If 80% of the house members approve and a room is available, the applicant is accepted.

Residents of Wapello benefit from:

Built-in peer support from others in recovery.
A clean and sober living environment that promotes stability.
Opportunities to develop life skills and household responsibility.
Elected house officers to ensure fair and shared leadership.
24-hour support and fellowship from peers who understand the recovery journey.

Amenities include:

2-story house with 6 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms.
Fully furnished, with dishwasher, washer, dryer, internet, cable, and phone.
Conveniently located on the bus line and near local businesses.

Cost: $550/month (includes rent, utilities, phone, cable, and Wi-Fi) + one-time nonrefundable $100 move-in fee. Assistance is available for first month’s rent.
